WEEKENDING { part 1 }

i have been enjoying a wonderful weekend with my #1 guy.
we are slowly digging through the house and storage unit to down size.
first thing to go is the storage unit......yahoo!
i went to the unit yesterday for the first time and was thrilled with what i found { more on that later }.
so home i went to go through old trunks and look at what needed to go...{ to my children }.
and i found plenty of wonderful things for all my children to take.
tomorrow we start moving furniture....yahoo a second time !

i love sunflowers
these are in my living room and i smile every time i walk past them.

friday i was gifted some fresh eggs.
to me this is like winning the lottery.
beautiful browns and light green eggs...
and were they yummy.

to my friends out east:
stay safe and dry.
you all are in my prayers!

BEGINNING OF FALL

i know it is the end of summer and the beginning of fall when the flower pots are looking like they are sooo tired.

the earth under my feet is crunching and a different kind of color is dominating the scapes.

suddenly all i want to cook is soup and pot roast..

and use my jewel-t dishes.
love these dishes, my mom started collecting them for me when i first got married over 33 years ago.
she is gone now but i think of her with warm memories every time i use these fall dishes.
thanks mom!

so i am tired but my heart is joyful
new hanging plants from my girls
a lovely day to sit on porch and enjoy my flowers
and knit.

THIS and THAT

this past week has been a busy active week for me. i returned to work and did a full 3 shifts in the OR.
everything went well, my back and leg were in minimal pain but then again being on a rather large dose of steroids helps. actually i have enjoyed this regime of steroids, eric says i have not shut up since the first pill was taken, i think he is looking forward to monday when i am done with this oral steroid round.
the only side effect i have noticed and everyone who knows me is i look like i am seven months pregnant with chipmunk cheeks and ankles that remind me of my aunt pat.[ she always had swollen ankles...why? no idea ].

but since feeling good i have been getting out in the sunshine.
over at My Sister Knits, julie had a demo on how to plant flower pots !
how great is that ! her gardens are beautiful and a very comfortable serene place to sit and knit.
i had the opportunity to meet several interesting ladies.
knitters are soo pleasant and wonderful to talk to.

this chicken watches over her yard.

these tulips are in my yard, the spring garden is beginning to look alive.

i have become obsessed with crochet...why?
i find it mindless and soothing.

i learned to make " bobbles" and find this stitch to be so rewarding.
i think i am just in the mode of enjoying very simple things,
things i can do with my hands while keeping an eye on spring
breaking through the ground !

i am not a pastel color way person but can't seem to get enough of these colors!!
[ maybe it is all the medications i am on..hehe ]
wishing all a wonderful peaceful EASTER.
take time to enjoy watching spring
i think you will be amazed!

QUILTS and FLOWERS

Two weeks before we leave, thought I better get the binding on the quilt that will be making the journey with us. Yes I prefer to work under pressure and deadlines, no I do not call this procrastination!

I really like my flower pots.

And the front garden

The vegetable garden may be a bust this summer but the flowers are coming back to life!
How is your garden doing?

Heating Up

It is heating up here in Colorado. Yesterday 92 degrees. Last Saturday I spent the day painting outdoor metal chairs from black to white and planting the flower boxes. I had done the boxes once and when I saw my sisters planters, I knew mine were inadequate...so off to the stores again for variety of different plants. I enjoy beautiful flower planters, sitting out on the porch in the evening after it has cooled down a bit, oh the simple things in life !

New Bike

I also finished a quilt that I pieced as well as machined quilted. I am loving this machine quilting. No I can not do all the real fancy quilting yet, but I know me and with time and practice I will be doing it all.
