SEWING and KNITTING

Working on ANOTHER Red and White quilt.
The last one was a gift.

And how I would like to have one for myself.
Plus it was so darn fun to quilt !

New fab I picked up at the FIG
for backing a work in progress...
More on that later.........

Is this not sweet?
Found this at the FIG too !!
I see a table topper for Erin's new home.

I must really like this pattern because I have FROGGED it 9 TIMES.
Yes you read that correctly.
This one is working out BEAUTIFULLY !
Hope your FALL Monday is a GLORIOUS one.

RAINY DAY

It's been raining here for 2 days now. I love it especially since it has been hotter than hades the last several weeks.
It's COOL today.

Took a walk around the garden

The fall flowers are out

Love that.

Purple

Yellows

and Reds

Working on this quilt that Nathan [ son ] designed. I know it looks like one needs sunglasses for all that orange. But it is not as shocking as the photo makes it.    [ or maybe I have been looking too long at the quilt and have eye damage ].
Again my son is taking me way out of my comfort zone !
I am enjoying the experience.
Good to get out of the old and try something new.
We only live once [ thank goodness ].
Perhaps my eyes are damaged, all of the photos look blurry. I was using my point and shoot, something I do not use very often.....sorry.

RED and WHITE

I finished my RED and WHITE with machine quilting !!

Love the quilting

Have never done feathers on my machine before

Thank you Charlotte  [fig leaf] for giving me the courage to try !

No it is not PERFECT, and if it was perfect I would not have the next project to look forward to.

I know the person this will be gifted to will LOVE it.

Because it was made with LOVE

I think I will go make another one now.

BINDING

My Red and White is ready for binding...yahoo!!!!
I like to put binding on with my walking foot. This way I do not need to hand adjust feeding the material through the machine....in other words "it is a time saver".

It's odd to me but I don't usually miter my binding..{ guess I can just be lazy}, but I did for the Red and White.
Sure makes the corners easy and so Good looking. !

Those corners are lying PERFECT.

Bought these new gadgets in Cody for binding. I tend to be a GADGET girl.
They are for machine sewing the binding on, I am hand sewing the binding on this quilt.

One side is flat and one side rounded. It helps measure the edge of your binding so you can sew on a perfect binding with out running any stitches on the top of your quilt.
I will test it out on a smaller quilt to work out the kinks first and let you know if they are worth their pricey price !

LIVING AS SIMPLY AS I CAN

I really like the simple things in life. I am no longer interested in acquiring STUFF.
This includes fabric and fibers.
Oh I'm sure I will buy fabric that stirs my heart, but I am DONE stock piling fabric.

{tulips}
Seems now I just want to spend my days at home fluffing the nest. This includes tending a garden of flowers and veggies.

{ davenport }
Living simply is not about perfect but about the PROCESS.
Instead of buying new cushions for this davenport I learned how to make these fitted cushions. No they are not perfect but the process of making and learning was a PERFECT learning experience !

{garden}
Gardening is the unattainable nirvana for me. I am always planning the following years garden. How to do it differently, where to plant for a better yield, using more heirloom seeds, better at not wasting a seed.
It is the perpetual hope that I love about gardening!!

{ homemade dish clothes}
Homemade things tells me I do not have to be a victim to the advertising world of what I need to buy to be HAPPY.
That their is a peacefulness and accomplishment in doing it myself.

{ homemade laundry soap}

Love this stuff, very easy to make and works great.
The other benefit of HOMEMADE laundry soap....
this is safe for our water ways
no toxins in these bottles
and that makes me smile !

{ laundry line}
Drying clothes out on a sun drenched clothes line has to be in the top 5 things I love to do .
I feel at peace with the world and myself watching clothes gentle blowing dry out side on the line.
Oh, yes it makes a huge difference on the electric bill.

Making bread helps me to return to one of the oldest arts of food.
The many kinds of bread and the science of bread making seems endless.

{rag rug}
My newest endeavor, making rugs using the tooth brush method. As many of you know I have a house full of fabric, so I like to use the fabric I most likely will never use in a quilt.
The old saying
Use it up or do without

{ blueberry pancakes}
home cooked simple meals for simple days

{homemade dog food}
I started making dog food more because of my allergies to the puppies.
The benefits has been amazing:
*the fat boy has lost a pound
*the skinny girl has gained a pound
*their coats look so much better
*my allergies are better
*less shedding
but the surprise benny has been less waste our kitchen.
We save all left overs for the dog food.
I have read several reports that the average household throws out $30 worth of food a week.
I am sure I have been guilty of this but no more. As long as I have used no onions, it is fair game for the dogs!!!!
This is a few things that I enjoy doing to remind me
TO KEEP IT SIMPLE !
