JUST TOO......

All great books. It has been hotter than Hades here and I have been locked up in a dark cool basement-so over it all. 

I'm screaming for WINTER!

You should know why by now.

This river flooded 2 weeks ago, we were here 3 weeks ago. It is expected to have some heavy flash flooding tonight thru Monday morning. With glorious rain and cooler temps comes evil brotherII....flooding.

The river looks dark but the flood brought a river rolling with thick mud, it turned black.

Five people died in the river as well as so, so many fish. 

We sure had fun while we were able to be on the river safely. 

We really need to FIX the environment and now!

Too Hot, too Dry, too many Fires, too little rain, too little snow and now Deadly flash flooding.

Oh Colorado, we need to help heal you and care for you better.

SOMETHING TO DO, RUNNING FROM THE HEAT-CAMPING

We RAN to the mountains this week for two nights and three days! Seems that lots of people had the same idea for the same reason-too HOT in town! We left early on Tuesday morning finding the last two campsites sites side by side for trailers. Caitlin and Jason came up in afternoon with their camper, we brought the kids up with us early. Silly me, brought up knitting, several projects, thinking I would get in several hours of knit time. Well I can tell you, two small children takes all four adults to manage when spending hours and hours outside in nature! Fun we had, the two year old was better than any comedy show, so amazed with all their was to do outside. Petting the fish that Grandpa caught for dinner was a highlight before wrapping said fish being put on the grill. Betty also seasoned our fish for us....lots and lots of oil with salt, (someone took their eyes off her for a second). Trout, steak, potatoes and garden salad was DELISH! 

I finished the Milo vest for Betty, using some yarn dyed by Ginny at Small Things. Love her yarn, such a wonderful experience to knit with. I started one for Gus, (the knit I took camping), and no, I made no real progress on vest.With all the tree knocking on trees to get honey from Pooh Bear for our tea and cakes takes a lot of time! I love watching little ones play with their imagination! 

Oh, how I hope that the weather cools off or my new address will be some where in the mountains till November!

3 JULY 2017 CAMPING

 

We went high in the Colorado Mountains over the weekend. It was kinda a test run for the wee one, getting kinks worked out for the BIG Yellowstone trip later in the summer. The results were kinda a mix bag, B loved playing outside ALL day, getting dirty, looking at every flower and rock, watching the sky with beautiful white clouds and that helicopter was great fun! Slept the first night like the dead! Day 2 all was well until the kid chair was open and B climbed up looking so big and proud! The climbing out part didn't go as well, she was so close to mastering the chair thing but...hence, the strawberry scuffed up right side of the face-oh, did that hurt...all of us! Second night, low and behold a tooth decides it is time to bust through, causing a very sleepless night. Yet, all in all, I think it went well. Can't help the teething process and can't stop all falls that a one year will take!

The best part of the trip was B is an apprentice knitter! See , she insists on caring the knitting bag-EVERYWHERE,  I need to make one just for her.

I had brought up three projects to work on, only a few rows of Eric's sock were completed. So many more important things to explore with a new set of one year old eyes!

The high country is beautiful this time of year. Really wish we could have gone hiking, but I am still in an aircast for several more weeks. Nothing like having a cement block on my dominant foot in the summer to beat all.
