9 JULY 2017 SLOW and REAL

It's been a full couple of days here at my house. Now when I say full, I don't mean overly busy, but rather a slow steady movement forward, this includes napping.
Finished quilting a baby quilt, needs a good wash now.
Started -then completed another baby quilt top and backing.
Made a bacon,artichoke quiche....yummy.
Read two books - The Lost Quilter was good
The Giving Quilt was terrible. I kept reading the book because I identified with two of characters and wanted to see how things turned out for them. The ending was a major let down! I told Eric "now that was a waste of time."
Eric and I went out for breakfast, then over to Farmers Market. Shopping Farmers Marker just plain feels good to me. Good 'real' food and supporting my community, yup, leaves me feeling good. Met a really nice father/daughter team from Nebraska and had a very friendly chat , politics included . We were on very different wave lengths regarding politics but it was pleasant to see the good in each other and what brings us together, rather than what separates us.
Something to remember, look for the good in people first.
Of course I continue to knit on Brassy as well. I think I may be seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. Let you know next week.
Found on Netflix another good murder mystery show 'The Doctor.'
Takes place in Australia post WWII, one of my favorite time periods.
Keep it slow, deliberate and real!

6 APRIL 2017

Life  many days, (most days) is a combination of the truly wonderful side of being alive and the bitter side of 'when will I learn' and 'why did I do that?'  Of course the lesson here is to learn from the 'why did I do that' and build up on the 'truly wonderful side of being alive'. To be grateful for the small miracles that happen each day, even the ones that take a little searching to find. Often, I can find many miracles daily with a little 'reframing' of my mind/thinking. I find myself having to reframe a lot of my thinking, (particularly since November of 16). I find myself mentally aware of my breathing and to slow it down, funny how slowing down my breathing-slows down my run away thoughts and my tongue.
Yesterday, was one of such days. So many things that happened yesterday made for a perfect day, then-then one cruel spontaneous angry word fell from my mouth.... Why does something that lasted less than 10 seconds play such a big part in a day that was 24 hours long? Today, I will again build on the positive, watch for daily miracles, be grateful, while acknowledging the positive in my day and breathing before letting any negative words pass these lips.

GRATEFUL

TURNING 30

not this one

this one

how can it be true, she has turned 30! it is a hallmark birthday to be sure and we had a party for the birthday girl. i can tell you too, my girls have the most wonderful friends!
the food was wonderful, the cake silly and the strawberries over the moon.
i forgot to take pictures of her homemade gifts; a knitted skirt with a touch of fair isle pattern at the bottom, a black with white polka dot a line dress, clothes line basket and one store bought cotton summer dress from her mom. how i still enjoy making clothes for my girls!
and amazingly, we had clouds, cool weather but no rain…the weather gods were smiling on our small party.

holidays

tis the time of year it’s hard to post all the sewing and knitting projects that i have completed.
so much “do it yourself” fun happening here, but since i have many viewers and not sure if any of the recipients of said projects are popping in on the blog....well, i will just have to wait till after the 25th before posting my busy november and december projects/gifts.
i can show you some small gifts that were tied up with ribbon and given to some very happy colleages.
handmade dish/hand clothes filled with homemade soap; honey oatmeal bar and a lavender bar.
the day is approaching where family will be picked up at the airport, lots of soul warming food made,
talks around the table, movies watching, dinner out, and all sorts of family gathering for 2 days.
2 days i look forward to, it’s like making it to the summit. i really try to keep things calm and not commercial at all and for the most part i am successful.
i want this christmas to be even calmer, i want to savior it all, i guess  what i want is a slow christmas.
hope your holiday planning is meeting your’s and your family’s needs.
happy holidays.
ps: do you celebrate the winter solstice day and if so, what are some of the special things you do for this day?
