The garden is FINISHED for
the year! I went out and picked everything that was useable, we are to get our
first frost tonight. I can’t remember a year in the garden where the growing
season has lasted to the end of October. My garden did better this year during
the months of September and October than July and August.
Strange year, but I am so
grateful for the late autumn harvest. I have made salsa and sauce for the
winter, we have eaten our share of kale, spinach, squash, tomatoes and cucumbers. This
year was tough with the cold weather in May-July and wet too. One thing I love
about gardening, hope is eternal…next year, always next year!
Knitting wise, I dumped Chai tea all over the brown Dealyn sweater. Broke the quart jar that the tea was in as well-in the knitting bag…ugh! Washed that up and now it is drying on the racks.
The yellow yarn-I over dyed
again but it looks pretty yellow still to me. Oh well chemistry, love it or
leave it. I will figure something for that yarn.
And another Kumfy, in Rio
undyed yarn. Love these baby knits.
Reading: The Yankee Way and Carrots Love Tomatoes {never too early to get started on the next garden:-)}

It looks like you had a fabulous garden. I was a little sad that we never got a fall garden in the ground due to rain, but with all the flooding we have had it has turned out to be a blessing. Now I will be more than ready come January to get my hands dirty.
Your knitting looks quite lovely, glad the tea washed out. :)
Oh my gosh - I can't imagine spilling tea all over it. It sounds like it's all OK now. I added that Yankee Way to my library list. It sounds like a book I would love.
So glad that your tea got dumped on a brown project and not some lovely lilac object, if it is possible to be glad for such a thing!
Are those supplies for lotion/soap making I see? What are you working on?
Really cute baby sweater! I just finished making a super easy one with cap sleeves... No reason to do it - just for fun. It is now on one of my teddy bears - LOL!
The garden - oh I am so sad to see it end for this year. All the tomatoes in our garden have now been eaten.... boooo!

You have such gorgeous pictures in your posts! I absolutely love them. And all those tomatoes!!!! So jealous.
I have not read Carrots Love Tomatoes, but... I have gardened using the principles of that book and can attest that carrots do love tomatoes. I plant in one raised bed: tomatoes, carrots marigolds, and basil. Everything grows beautifully. :)
Our garden is pretty much done too. I donated the green tomatoes to the chickens. Tomato burnout. I just need to chop back the asparagus, pull the carrots, and then it's weed removal. Phew.
