As many of you know if you
have been reading Little House for any length of time-I like to make things,
useful things, bread, soups, hand and body creams, deodorant, butter, yes just
about anything and everything so I do not have to go to the BIG stores and buy
items. I garden, crochet, spin, quilt and knit too. Now, do not assume I make
all our needed things and am anti-purchasing of said goods…no, no, no! I like
knowing how to do all these useful things. I feel it connects me with previous
generations and in a weird way I am stronger and more independent. And to think I hated the thought of taking
any Home Economics courses in high school or college. I refused to take any,
knowing I was going to be a career woman. I also said I would never be a
secretary or a nurse. I have been a nurse for the last 37 years…ahem! The point
being, sometimes we end up loving what was incomprehensible at a younger age.
Life is full of strange twist.
This past week I continue
working on the baby gown and brown sweater. Knitting more on baby gown (Kumfy) than
sweater. Baby items are fun and quick, so I seem to gravitate to those more and
more recently.
Reading sewing and dying
books, so much information.

I think we all have our fair share of "I'll never do that!" which turned into "Oh my gosh, I LOVE that!". I enjoy natural dying - I just don't get a chance to do much of it these days.
Me too, I love making things like that! My sister spins her own woolen embroidery floss and I would love to gift her a book on natural dyeing. Do you like the one you pictured?
So great! I said that I would never learn how to sew. It seemed like such an old fashioned thing to do when I was a teenager. Now I love, love to make quilts. :)
You are knitting Daelynn! I have that one in my queue, and I can't wait to cast on. That little baby gown is precious. I wish I had known how to knit when I was younger. I didn't learn until after my kids were a little older.

I love your sweater, I have admire that same pattern before! I feel the same way about doing things independently - it's why I love to can and preserve foods... it makes me feel connected to people from the past and makes me feel like I can take care of my family even if things around me (like the economy) tanks, haha!
I love the color of your daeylnn and mine is nearly done. Slowly but surely. I love knitting it and think I might make one for my husband one day :)
