24/365

Crazy day, made my way in the dark to place of training, the day or I should say morning flew by…learning so so much. I sure hope I can remember all this excellent training I’m getting here, the people are so friendly and helpful! Then the craziest thing happened-the building went on LOCK DOWN, yes lock down ( lock your doors, get under desk kinda lock down-although we didn’t get under the desk, but kept working) for a couple of hours. Why the Lock Down I do not know, only the person of interest was taken down by where I parked my car. What?, I’m sorry-but that was a very unsettling afternoon!
I got back to my hotel, had dinner, then started sewing-how it settles me! Before bed I’m sure I will also be knitting,( I need lots of settling/centering this evening).
Put together a whole lot of 2inch squares and sewed the first row together…yeah!
I’m also watching Beauty that Moves “Whole Food Freezer Cooking”, a class I signed up for a month ago. Heather voice is so reassuring and calming-I think I can go back tomorrow for more training.
Hope your day was NOT as exciting as mine.

22/365 WEEKEND

I can count on one hand the times I have had to travel for work, and this week makes #5 in 30 years. Yes, I’m in southern Colorado for the week! Not knowing what to do with myself, I’m not the going out party lady- I brought my sewing machine. For the week I plan to sew 2 inch squares, lots of them, knit in bed,(heaven) and do some yoga and reading. That should keep me busy here in the hotel!, don’t you think?

I so enjoy every time I sew on my little Singer. She just hums along like a burring kitty, sewing all those wee 2 inch blocks for an amazing scrap quilt! A scarp quilt I plan on keeping for me!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a slow peaceful weekend.
How was your weekend?
Please let me know.

19/365

yesterday we celebrated a lovely low key Thanksgiving meal with family. It was a small gathering, just what was needed. Today, I slept in till 0530, then took a 90 minute morning nap before really getting on with my day. I did venture out for about an hour and picked up a few things, mainly groceries, we are eating in tonight. Pan seared steak, carrots, rutabaga and sweat potatoes.

We had snow Thanksgiving and today too. And it is COLD out there. This afternoon has been spent knitting and watching Detective Morse! Gotta love those English murder mysteries, they are all so polite while dealing the dirty deeds.

Some happenings around here::
-The squirrel pattern is the next panel on My Favourite scarf
-Homemade bread
-Fresh Eggs [ love the blue color eggs, they cheer up my mornings]
-Eating fresh eggs and HM bread on a grey snowy day with a cup of hot coffee.
-Monday I start my Freezer Cooking Class online.
-Monday I start a new training program for my job.

What’s going on in your world?

17/365 -YARN ALONG

Blocking a “In Three’s”for a little girl who is going to turn 1. Oh my, how did that happen?
And why do I have such a block on totally finishing a sweater when the knitting is done? I know me and the buttons :: they will be sown on- in the car- on the drive to the party!!!! UGH……
I don’t even  have the buttons picked out, but I have two weeks to choose the ones I wish to sew on.
Ten minutes before I get in the car I will be downstairs auditioning buttons, discarding the ones over my shoulder that I do not care for- at a rapid fire pace. And yes their is a chance of breaking my neck slipping on all the buttons that land on the floor as I run (run is a relative term at my season stage in life) up the stairs to a car with a man who by now is a wee bit impatient with my last minute “finishing” up a gift. He will have that look and ask the same question, “when did you finish knitting that sweater”?
I will reply, “Last year” and “don’t say it if you want any cake today”.
I know I can frustrate him, but he has no idea how much I frustrate myself and me frustrating me trumps any frustration I cause him.
(maybe I'll go and browse for some buttons now, you no do something different…Surprise)

As for reading I finished
The Dirty Life
late last night.
I am not sure I liked the characters in the book. They both seemed rather full of themselves and too often very disrespectful (mean) to each other. I know I never want to be a farmer!
However I did like the writing, it was what kept me going to finish the book.

{11/365} YARN ALONG

Oh Wednesday or better known as Yarn Along day how I look forward to your weekly visit. I so enjoy looking at what other yarners are doing and reading. I have queued so many projects from Yarn Along on my Ravelry favorites. Books, so many amazing books to read and I have read several straight from reviews on Yarn Along.
Modern Natural Knitter is a new release. I have only glanced through it but it looks promising and chucked full of great information.
As for my knit, well I have been watching this for months on two blogs: Lori Times Five, [when is she going to start blogging again? Instagram is not enough]! and Lucy’s 365.
This is a VERY FUN knit and uses up yarn, [I think]. Scrap quilts are suppose to use up fabric but I swear I always seam to have more when done with a scrap quilt;-\
So I will see if I really use up much scrap yarn. It is a great knit…I’ve already said that haven’t I?
Check it out on Ravelry.

Look what came in the mail today!
I saw this book at Fancy Tiger [Denver] and found it interesting, but I had my dollars marked for fabric not books that day. I kept thinking about it and knew I had to order it for me. Glad I did.

5 and YARN ALONG

The baby gown will have short sleeves (per request of mother) and of course I need to find some fun buttons. Finishing the small details of projects I seem to struggle with, not sure why. Any words of wisdom?
I just finished reading Dry Bones by Craig Johnson
I can’t say it was one of his better ones, just OK. His Walt Longmire series is excellent, only one dud in about a 12 book series, not bad.
We are expecting a blizzard tonight on the Front Range, the first of the season. I’m looking forward to seeing snow but not driving in it. I may be delayed for work in the morning, seasoned women with white hair should not have to drive in snow. It just is not a good idea!

0430 and it’s snowing, but not enough snow or blow to keep me home this morning…{darn}
Happy Wednesday
and do not forget to acknowledge a VET.
Thank you ERIC for your service.

ME

As many of you know if you have been reading Little House for any length of time-I like to make things, useful things, bread, soups, hand and body creams, deodorant, butter, yes just about anything and everything so I do not have to go to the BIG stores and buy items. I garden, crochet, spin, quilt and knit too. Now, do not assume I make all our needed things and am anti-purchasing of said goods…no, no, no! I like knowing how to do all these useful things. I feel it connects me with previous generations and in a weird way I am stronger and more independent.  And to think I hated the thought of taking any Home Economics courses in high school or college. I refused to take any, knowing I was going to be a career woman. I also said I would never be a secretary or a nurse. I have been a nurse for the last 37 years…ahem! The point being, sometimes we end up loving what was incomprehensible at a younger age. Life is full of strange twist.

This past week I continue working on the baby gown and brown sweater. Knitting more on baby gown (Kumfy) than sweater. Baby items are fun and quick, so I seem to gravitate to those more and more recently.

Reading sewing and dying books, so much information.
Please join me on YARN ALONG and share what you have been doing this past week.
