YARN ALONG {and some organizing..cleaning}

Yahoo, it's yarn along wednesday!
a full week here at little house, more spinning getting done. i figure maybe 3 more spools and i will be done with this color way...;)
at a snails pace i continue to sew together my red and white quilt #2.
and i'm on a roll getting corners organized here at home! the above pics is the table next to my chair {before pics}, i totally cleaned it out: meaning it either found a place to live or the items were removed from the house.

IT’S LIFE

before

after

not proud of my house keeping skills of late, but it's life, my life.
over the past month my husband and i have started doing a lot of DEEP cleaning.
each week we are pulling apart a closet, a storage area, or just a corner that has been collecting “stuff”.
so when down--to--earth put up the challenge to organize the food pantry, i jumped in with mr.p.
so these pictures are my before and after pictures.
mr.p. and i stand before our pantry and glow with proud now, leaving the pantry door open so a glance can be thrown in it’s direction as we pass by the shelves. oh, i know the shelving is in great need of fresh paint, but baby steps here please, for us two full time workers.
not only was the upstairs pantry organized but the downstairs one as well. we cleaned out the food side and the storage side of that big room. Christmas boxes were gone through and several boxes of unwanted decorations discarded to repurpose facilities. it took all day it did, but at night, we retired with such a sense of accomplishment.
a side note about down---to---earth, i think rhonda’s blog was the first blog i ever followed regularly, and continue to read daily. she and i have the same philosophy of learning to do for one’s self, not falling prey to commercialism. it’s not a comparison thing since we both lead very different life’s, but more an attitude thing. i’m proud of all the daily needs of my house hold i can make myself with better results than the store bought items. i believe strongly. that many of the things i enjoy doing that cost a wee bit of cash, i am able to do because of all the areas i am careful with my cash, of course never creating any debt. thank you rhonda for your supportive blog, you are my number one resource for this life style i have chosen.

THIS and THAT

it’s wednesday: which means YARN ALONG with ginny. Love that blog, her writing, the family life she and her husband are carving out for their 7 children, not to mention all the great knits and book recommendations.

i joined a group on line called 15in15, which is a group that asks spinners to spin 15minutes each and every day in 2015. I can manage that;-)

louise- i am on the sleeves now, this knit continues to be a joy to knit. who couldn’t love knitting such a wonderful pattern using quince and co. yarn? I think MadderMade is now my favorite designer, I know my girls like louise.

pulled out the featherweight for some piecing, a red and white quilt that caitlin started maybe 2 years ago. yup, i’m finishing it. i really enjoy doing mindless things like easy knits, spinning, and strip piecing
fabric. ok i love to “run fabric through a well tuned, humming machine....talk about getting into the zone, pure ZEN!

the photo of the moon i took on my way to work last week, yes that moon lit up the sky!

JANUARY

JANUARY, one of my favorite months, next to February. why you ask,  because i’m an obsessive knitter in the winter. january and february are the two months of the year, where i live, that i can layer on all the hand knits and not be deemed a crazy lady. is not cold weather the reason knitters knit?

happenings during the past week:
: soup making-beef barley
: toasting cheese in new toaster oven;-)
: date with my honey-wings and a beer...yum
: knitting- louise
  and
: sewing- a new knitting bag { no pattern, from my head }. not just any knitting bag but one that will                    hold a sweater’s worth of yarn and instruments to complete the project.
: fireside knitting with the puppies.
: photography- around town

how was your first week january 2015?

my 2015 word is:
BREATHE

Breathe

By Leo Babauta
Breathe.
If you feel overwhelmed, breathe. It will calm you and release the tensions.
If you are worried about something coming up, or caught up in something that already happened, breathe. It will bring you back to the present.
If you are moving too fast, breathe. It will remind you to slow down, and enjoy life more.
Breathe, and enjoy each moment of this life. They’re too fleeting and few to waste.

i want to wish all who stop by here a very peaceful and productive new year! may she meet half the expectations that has been placed on her shoulders and the other half not met be positive learning/growth opportunities.
happy new years 2015
