CHANGE IS ALL AROUND ME

Summer is coming to an end- I can feel it. The days are still warm; I even hazard to say some are plain hot! But the nights are cool and crisp…oh how I love fall and all that she holds. Great evenings on the porch, walks before it is pitch black, the fall knitting projects and of course all the sewing options. Do I make clothing or quilts? More than likely I will be making both not to mention the afghans and crochet rugs to use up scraps.

The mountains are beautiful in the fall, that gold color of the aspens up against the green pines. Oh and the north wind rushing through the tops of the trees.
The garden has been wonderful this summer, we are feasting on tomatoes, beets, lettuce, corn, peppers, onions and let’s not forget the zukes. Some of the zucchini will be carved instead of pumpkins for Halloween this year. {I’m not big on Halloween}.

I have been working on erin’s harvest moon sweater, { note the fall name of this sweater}J
And of course Annabel only needs her sleeves to be put on. So much to do and all to be done in the short of season of FALL.
Are you ready for the season to change? Have you knitting, quilting projects set out? Lets not forget it is also time for soup and homemade bread.

HIGH HEELS and FOOLISHNESS

mr.p and i went to a beautiful wedding ,
the son of our dear friends- paul and sue.
and when i say dear friends, i mean amazingly dear friends.
we lived with the coops for 1 month while our home was being built----the finishing touches that is.
the day we moved into the coops house with 2 young children, our third child decides to be born the next day :)
2 weeks early !
how many friends would put up with that craziness?
well since the wedding was so near and dear to us we decided to wear our sunday plus best.
for me that meant high heels. { starting to see the foolishness }.
how do women manage to wear these contraptions all day and walk in them?
i had to practice for a few minutes...
took them out for a spin on stairs, slippery flooring and a hill..{ the scariest }.
all that ran through my head was: how am i going to explain this at the hospital when they fix my broken ankles.
well disaster averted last night
but this morning my two great toes will not bend at their joints.
the joints are swollen and stiff !
using the tread mill this morning took a little bit more effort.

the quilt above is the wedding gift for ryan and alice.
yes i know it is not quilted yet---
my trademark is never to have a wedding quilt done at the time of the wedding.
not sure why, just the way these things always turn out.
oh, and that small tree growing up through the deck.....interesting i know.
not sure what mr. p's thoughts are on that situation ;)

PLACES I HAVE BEEN THIS WEEK

ah, another week gone and we had plenty of rain this past week.
my yard is so green i have had to look at my license plates to reaffirm i am still a resident of
colorado, living on the dry high dessert along the front range.
yup, i'm still here but it looks more like portland, oregon.
not that i have ever been there, but i love looking at gardens on blogs from portland.
i dream of the greenery and flowers so full and robust with little dew drops on their petals and leaves.
by this time of summer in colorado it is truly as the saying goes-" the dog days of summer".
not fit for woman nor beast to be moving around while the sun is high in the sky.

since i continue to be working full time i have been out in the early evening or morning.
stopped by my sister knits and had a gaze fest in julie's yard, that squirrel is so sassy and fat.
not really concerned about us humans, and the chickens well they just happen to be in his yard.
the chickens are not too concerned about the squirrel either, they must of formed some kind of a treaty for co-exsistance.

another day i stopped over at me oh my pie and coffee!
the quiche is delish and the pie with caitlin's own ice cream recipe is through the moon.
i like to have breakfast here in this very cute hopping shop at least once a week.
i enjoy watching all the goings on while i eat and knit.
harvest moon is on the needles again, this one in an erin green for my youngest daughter now 24...uggg.
how do these things happen?
i so miss those young years and wish for their return.....at least in my head and memory !
anyways erin will hopefully have a harvest moon sweater for christmas this year.
anyone out there want to do a knit along with me , i seem to stay on task when i have people to scoot me along.

and last but far from least i flew into  mama said sew!
love the fabric in this shop.
i have been working on a low volume quilt---new to me---and angela has been very helpful with fabric choices.
much more on this later and with pics !

i'm off to an evening wedding now....
also means i will have 2 hours of knitting in the car and my husbands undivided attention.
