KNITTING and READING

Joining Ginny today on Yarn Along,
it has been a long time since I participated on Yarn Along, not that I haven’t been knitting or following Yarn Along like a disciple every Wednesday. No, I just haven’t been posting that much, kinda in a slump figuring out “why” I have a blog and write anything . And yes I have come to several conclusions but mainly I want  my blog to be a record for my children and grandchildren { if I ever have any...ah um} and on down the line.
More on this later but now to Yarn Along...
I am knitting on Groovy
using Mad Tosh lace, Silver Fox{main body} and Stove Pipe {final border}
It is going to be a long knit using lace weight yarn...yeah!
Reading, I just finished “Walking Across Egypt” the book Ginny recommended last week, and I love Mattie the main character in the story. What a cook!
Join me on Yarn Along, do tell what you are knitting and reading.

{ no yarn along today-ginny lost a dear friend-please send your prayers for the family}

Groovy

Dang, it’s HOT here. I went for a 2 mile walk yesterday because it was nice breezy and cloudy!
Nearly one mile out and the breeze/clouds ceased-gone, oh GOD get me home before I melt.
I made it home and could of watered the garden with all the sweating I had running out of this aging body.
The good news, the corn is tasseling......can you see me dancing with glee. We love sweet corn here and soon butter will be running down the edges of our mouths, with corn and pepper specs stuck on our teeth...oh yeah!
The Blue quilt is one I have had in my head for years. Ms.Landliv has done two blue quilts, check out her beautiful blog. I plan on doing a square quilt first, then a hexie blue quilt with all the scraps from the square quilt. Why is it that fabric reproduces itself when cutting out a scrap quilt? It’s the same conundrum of putting 10 pairs of socks in the dryer and only getting 19 socks out. Where did the 20th sock go? A question for God when I meet Him in Heaven, { I have a long list of these questions}.
Knitting on Groovy, a simple mindless knit, just what I need after work on these blistering hot afternoons. Have I whined enough about the heat yet? I’m knitting Groovy with lace weight Madeline Tosh, crazy I know but what else do I have to do but to not overheat.
Stay cool!

CHANGE IS IN THE AIR

What I heard this morning when I woke....nothing, absolutely nothing. A sure sign of change in the air.
I’m talking about the birds singing, they are my O’ Dark thirty alarm clock. And speaking of O’Dark thirty, it was dark! I rolled over to look at the clock and it was 5:03 am!
Dark and no birds singing!
A sure sign that we are in the waning days of summer.
The dog days of summer are upon us. Hot temps, dry air, and much work to be done putting up the garden. One of my true joys of having a garden is in the late afternoon pondering what to have for dinner, I stroll into the garden to see what is ready to be picked and work dinner around that day’s harvest. My neighbor directly north of me is growing their first garden ever! We sorta planned our gardens together to share our harvest with each other. Yesterday, she delivered squash to me and the best pickle cucumber I have ever sunk my teeth into, and I, lettuce, little cherry tomatoes, beans and one radish to her! What udder joy to share our gardens !
Not only are Eric and I enjoying the garden but the puppies love fresh veggies. Peas and beans please they bark. When I head out to pick beans  and peas they are running in circles for they know a treat is coming their way. If I could only teach them to help snap the beans, what a treat for us all.
The corn is tasseling......yeah, yippie!

HELLO

Hello......
I think I was plucked out of Colorado and planted down south where it is normal to see rain daily.
I love rain......and we have had plenty of the wet stuff around here, little sunshine, lots of overcast and water, glorious water falling from the sky, at times softly and at other times “like cats and dogs”.
( where did that saying hail from)?
Colorado weather is returning today and going to soar into the high 90’s to low100’s over the next week, I already miss the overcast afternoons.
My garden is doing so so, the corn and beans are thriving, the tomatoes, not sure if I will see much of that, though hope is eternal!
I have been very busy in the sewing room ( house) making birthday gifts for my baby, she will be 25 in a week! I’m finishing the dress this weekend and will show all sewing goodness later after she opens her loot. I have already started another sweater, (Nathan), a sweater for me that will take me
foreevveerr to knit since I made the decision to use lace weight yarn (crazy), and always another quilt, (nothing but blues) in the making.
Jam making is in the air as well, just love blueberry and strawberry jam in the winter. I like my jam on pancakes, toast and waffles.....oh yeah.
So much has been accomplished with all this rainy weather and I will be sad to see it leave. Yes, yes I know sometimes a good thing can cross over to too much.
I’m off to crank up the air.......
